Gulf states to introduce medical testing on travelers to 'detect' gay people and stop them

Source: Daily Mail UK

A medical test being developed by Kuwait will be used to 'detect' homosexuals and prevent them from entering the country – or any of the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC), according to a Kuwaiti government official.
GCC member countries – Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – already deem homosexual acts unlawful.
This controversial stance is being toughened, with members of the LGBT community stopped at the border and banned from entering the country, according to Yousouf Mindkar, the director of public health at the Kuwaiti health ministry.

He told Kuwait newspaper Al Rai: ‘Health centres conduct the routine medical check to assess the health of the expatriates when they come into the GCC countries. However, we will take stricter measures that will help us detect gays who will be then barred from entering Kuwait or any of the GCC member states.’

The routine clinical screening of expatriates coming into the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC) might be also used to “detect” homosexuals, a senior Kuwaiti official has said.

A central committee tasked with the status of expatriates will look into the proposal when it convenes on November 11, Yousuf Mindkar, the director of public health at the Kuwaiti health ministry, has said.

“Health centres conduct the routine medical check to assess the health of the expatriates when they come into the GCC countries,” he said. “However, we will take stricter measures that will help us detect gays who will be then barred from entering Kuwait or any of the GCC member states,” he said, quoted by local daily Al Rai on Monday.

What is wrong with some people (asked rhetorically)? I suppose we shouldn't mock the crazies in other countries until we have also called attention to our own. What is the difference between the two?

We freed Kuwait so they can now use their religious beliefs to exclude people they simply don't like. But the same can be said for our protection of Saudi Arabia, our "freeing" of the Iraqis and our ongoing efforts in Afghanistan.

These peoples adhere to an ancient religion that is being used to drive division and hatred. Whether the religion actually condones jihad and the killing of anyone not a believer in Islam is up for discussion Interpretations of Islam suggest that all LGBT persons must be killed.

I understand why we did what we did in Saudi, Kuwait and Iraq - it was all about Dick Cheney's oil interests. Afghanistan started out as retaliation for 9-11 to deny AQ their training sites, etc. and when the Taliban would not turn them over we went in there as well.

But we knew or should have known they hated us for being there. The leaders in Saudi and Kuwait just used us, our soldiers and our treasury to protect them. This was all self-serving. There was nothing altruistic or humanitarian about it.

As a gay man I have never had any interest in going to a part of the world where people actually believe all that crap. I am a Christian but know that my faith community doesn't treat others as Muslims treat those they despise.

I am waiting to hear the voices of moderate Muslims to refute the extremists. I would love to see them come out in force and combat the extremist voices. My fear is that Islam actually is that reactionary and they have nothing much to add.
