Grijalva arrested at D.C. immigration rally

Rep. Raúl Grijalva, a Democrat from Arizona, was arrested today along with
fellow congressmen and activists for blocking the street in front of the
U.S. Capital in a statement of support for immigration reform.
The Camino Americano: March for Dignity and Respect, was held to demand
House Republican leadership to pass comprehensive immigration reform with a
path to citizenship, organizers said.

(51,571 posts)The representatives are calling on Congress, particularly Republicans, to push immigration legislation forward. The Senate has passed a bill that includes amped up border security. House Democrats have unveiled a plan with a path to citizenship for the estimated 11 million immigrants living in the U.S. illegally. But it's unclear if the GOP-led House will ever pass legislation.
They were arrested on charges of "crowding, obstructing, and incommoding" after a large group blocked First Street near the Capitol. In addition to the members of Congress, the Washington Post reports at least 100 others were arrested.

(9,462 posts)Americans in the background supporting them. This isn't an issue for Mexicans/Indians/Peruvians/Bolivians or any other nationality, it's a problem on our doorstep and many white European Americans support immigration reform.
So suck on that righties!!
