Gallup: GOP favorability plunges to record low

Source: Talking Points Memo

Only 28 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of the Republican Party, according to findings from Gallup released Wednesday.

That number represents a nadir for the GOP since Gallup began asking the question in 1992 and a 10-point drop from a month ago. Sixty-two percent said they have an unfavorable opinion of the Republican Party.

If they don't get their footing back, a GOP House majority is in serious jeopardy. Granted, they have a long time to reverse this. At this time, however, they are getting so unpopular that even cheating doesn't guarantee it for them.

For Democrats to win a House majority, 17 seats would need to switch to their party's favor. Results show that would be within reach, as Republican incumbents are behind in 17 of the districts analyzed: CA-31, CO-06, FL-02, FL-10, FL-13, IA-03, IA-04, IL-13, KY-06, MI-01, MI-07, MI-11, NY-19, OH-14, PA-07, PA-08, WI-07.

We need Dems in the governors' mansions ANY TIME there's a zero at the end of the calendar year.

'Cause every ten years comes the census, and reapportionment. And as long as we have DEMS in charge during those key years, we can keep republi-CON gerrymandering to a minimum.

pretty much corresponds to the hardcore Fundamentalist base of the GOP.

That's all they've got left, and let's be honest; that's insufficient to be competitive on a national level. It's what I've believed for quite some time now - the GOP will devolve into a regional political party, with its stronghold in the Southern United States and the Intermountain West.

unless the adults in both parties agree to ignore them, regardless of who controls the houses of Congress.

As long as the pukes let them threaten to poop their diapers if they don't get their way the nation and the world will be their hostages. Republican members of Congress will always be threatened with a bagger primary challenge. As much as I detest Mitch McConnell and could wish bad things to happen to him if I were such as person, the fact the Reich Wing of the Neo-Nazi Teabagger party are withdrawing their endorsement is telling. He actually spoke to a Democrat and may on more than one occasion shaken hands with Obama the anti-Christ. Booo-Boooo...

a simpering coward or so hopelessly in love with his job, could end that threat.

Get together with Nancy Pelosi, get the Democrats on board, find 20-odd Republicans who'll back him up, then suspend the so-called "Hastert Rule" and do the votes. In return, Pelosi, the Democrats and those 20-odd Republicans will support Boehner as Speaker in any attempted coup, which will happen, I can assure you.

This would have the effect of neutralizing the Tea Party caucus.

Of course, Boehner probably won't do it.

It turns out the GOP’s favorability rating hit 31 percent on December 19th and 20th of 1998. Those are the same two days the House GOP debated on and voted to impeach Bill Clinton. The very same two days.

I live in a townhouse in Southern California (Los Angeles). My wife and I are both Democrats.
But I've come to realize, that every neighbor in my direct vicinity is of the tea party mindset.

• Maybe it's because most of them are senior citizens pining for the Reagan days and disliking the fact that we now have an African American President.
• Maybe it's because the right wing folks are more vocal about their opinions.

I dunno...but there's one guy who just moved in last year, and he is ultra tea party. In fact, I just heard him belt out a laugh that I'm sure was Fox News related.

:/

Gallup skews republi-CON. So if Gallup is showing this - Oh My Goodness.

I noticed that there was an effort in the past day or two, on the part of some GOP gabbers and their media friends, to stress the latest CNN poll that shows there's only a six or seven-point difference in disapproval between the bad guys and our guys. Oh Both sides! Both Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiides!!!! (Hey! Notice how "Both Sides" and "Bull Shit" start with the same letters?)

THIS cannot be spun. Especially as it's from Gallup.

that resorts to extortion as a condition to fund the government and to raise the Federal debt limit, all the while having previously pledged to Grover Norquist not to raise taxes instead of discharging their oaths of office. While all 28% are so fuc*ed up as to defy reason or comprehension, surely all would have made good little Germans of the '30s and early '40s.
