'Suspicious package' sent to Rep. Blackburn's office was empty envelope, police say
Source: The Commercial Appeal
WASHINGTON The suspicious package found at U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburns office Monday turns out to have been an empty envelope, Clarksville police said Wednesday.
Blackburn, a Republican representing the Nashville suburbs whose district until recently included parts of Shelby County, on Monday strongly hinted that the package was sent to intimidate in response to positions she has taken on public policy matters as a member of Congress. Blackburn has been in the forefront of efforts to delay implementation of the Affordable Care Act that some call Obamacare.
These are divisive times, she said in a prepared statement Monday. While every citizen is entitled to their opinion and their first amendment right to voice their concerns, they are not afforded the right to disruption and personal harm. However hot the rhetoric, there should never be a reason to resort to a threat of violence as a means to convey your concerns.
Evidently the sender had no opinion, hot or cold.

Marsha Blackburn is a bit nutty in my opinion.

It seems Blackburn has done more than her share to divide the country against an elected president.
It's odd she felt an empty envelope was meant to intimidate, but slinging an assault rifle over your shoulder to stand in line for a freakin' cup of coffee is the sign of a true patriot.
I do not like Congresswoman Blackburn, and I'm grateful for every day that Tim Ryan represents my district here in NE Ohio. I'm sorry Tennessee, you could do better.

(10,597 posts)... is the suspicious package. It was a stunt, probably perpetrated by the GOP, if not Marsha Blackburn herself.
