FBI tests white powder found in letter sent to Levin's Detroit office
BY ROBERT SNELL THE DETROIT NEWS
Detroit The office of U.S. Sen. Carl Levin was evacuated Monday after a worker found a letter filled with a white suspicious powder.
The FBI is analyzing the powder found at Levin's office in the McNamara Federal Building, spokesman Simon Shaykhet said. The Detroit Democrat's office was briefly evacuated Monday afternoon but has since reopened.
Levin was in Washington, D.C., on Monday when the letter was opened.
Levin is the latest recipient of suspicious letters sent in the last week to lawmakers nationwide. Tests showed the other letters did not contain a dangerous substance.
