Joe Scarborough Divorce: MSNBC Host Splits With Wife Susan
Source: Huffington Post
Joe Scarborough and his wife, Susan, obtained a divorce in January, records show.
TMZ first reported the existence of the documents on Thursday.
Scarborough had been married to his wife since 2001. She was his second wife. They have two children together.
A source told The Huffington Post that the settlement describes Scarborough as a "faithful, devoted and committed father and husband."

(2,749 posts)She was a paid congressional aide, not some poor intern. The way her death was investigated was very weird. But then, that part of Florida is weird and I hated it. 3 1/2 years of hell. The Democratic party in Santa Rosa county, next door to Okaloosa county where Fort Walton Beach is, was an answering machine, that's how red it is. Santa Rosa county was also dry at that time, still is so far as I know. I just hate Florida I guess. Too humid, too right wing, too many critters that can kill you, or at least make you sick. I would be all too happy to never go there again for the rest of my life.
We're not perfect down here, but we dems are making headway here and we can do without your bias.
Live and be well...elsewhere.

(1,397 posts)Most folks seem to have forgotten about the dead intern, Lori Klausitus.
Young woman, working in Scarborough's Florida district office when Morning Joe was a rising rightwing star in Congress, found dead in the office. Death was covered up by incompetent medical examiner. Joe left Congress to "spend more time with my family."

Laura was not drinking..it was an accident.. Ted was drinking and did not report the accident until hours later.
I have no respect for people who bring First Ladies into politics whether it is Laura or Michelle.

But again, point made. Still, the dead intern mystery is astonishing in terms of the unequal treatment. Scumbag was never publicly ridiculed for it.

(59,504 posts)First Ladies are adults and they do reflect on their spouses. Here, I think that the Laura Bush accident would not have impact because it occurred when she was young and because I think Democrats are LESS likely to attack spouses.
Imagine that it was Tipper Gore or Teresa Heinz who had this accident, would Karl Rove have ignored it? Consider how they went after Teresa for what was a very innocent comment. She was asked how what she could bring to the WH was different than Laura Bush. Her answer spoke of her decade of running a foundation that was a big part of her identity. Unfortunately, even though she spent several sentences praising Laura Bush, the media took the comment that Laura had not worked since she was grownup as a smear to teachers and librarians - as well as to Laura Bush. In fact, Laura Bush quit working at 27 when she married Bush. It is very easy to see what Teresa meant. (Not to mention using Bush language isn't 27 well within young and irresponsible?)
In fact, ignoring the extremes of each party, I think it is pretty clear that ONE party, for the most part, does not attack First Ladies and First Lady nominees - and the other does. Look at the politeness extended to Laura Bush, Cindy McCain, and Ann Romney - versus the way that Hillary Clinton, Teresa Heinz, and Michelle Obama have been treated.

(30,253 posts)After the accident he swam ashore. He checked into a hotel to establish an alibi (he even went down to the front desk to complain about a loud party). He finally reported the accident in the morning. The diver who pulled the poor girl out of the water lived only a few minutes away. She apparently had been alive for a while before finally running out of air. If Teddy had reported the accident right away, that diver may have been able to save her life. Mary Jo died a terrible death.
What Teddy did was inexcusable and it cost him any chance of ever becoming president.

I've also noticed that when she is in charge the show is much more calm, sane, and informative. She deserves her own gig instead of playing Alice Kramden to Joe and den mother to the rest of the kids on the panel.
And as far as the divorce, it's always been clear to me that Joe loves Joe and nobody else. Who could live with that for any length of time???

Why in the world would he divorce? Is there a new spouse on the horizon? Did Number Two tire of him?
http://www.theatlanticwire.com/entertainment/2013/10/kris-jenner-doing-fine/70442/
Joe Scarborough, everyone's kind of annoying preppy cousin, makes $99,000 every week as main host of MSNBC's Morning Joe. That figure was revealed by TMZ which claims to have seen divorce papers, which were filed last year though we only just learned of the divorce recently. Of that roughly $400,000 per month, Scarborough pays $30,000 in alimony. As the couple's two children live with him, he doesn't pay child support. So that all sounds pretty reasonable, but then you read more about the terms of the divorce and it begins to seem like a more contentious affair. Scarborough's ex, Susan Waren, had to affirm in the papers that Scarborough was "faithful, devoted, and committed," and a clause was included that when the two are both in the Connecticut home where the kids live, neither is allowed in the other's bedroom unless there's some sort of emergency with the kids, and, more chillingly, after 7 o'clock at night, neither is allowed on the other's side of the house. Side of the house! Update: After we published this item, the attorneys for both sides of the case have pushed back against interpreting the clauses of the divorce agreement, drafted to take into account all sorts of contingencies, as a literal characterization of what goes on at the Scarborough home. That makes sense to us and we regret any suggestion otherwise. Attorneys Christine Whitehead and Barbara Aaron add, "As counsel for Joe and Susan Scarborough in their Collaborative divorce, and having each practiced matrimonial law for more than twenty-five years, we can say, unequivocally, that Joe and Susan handled their divorce as honorably and amicably as anyone could have hoped. They are a model for other divorcing parents in their singular commitment to the well-being of their children. While such situations are never simple, Susan and Joe have behaved in a fashion that should be the aspiration of others going through similar challenges. Joe is and will continue to be generous and supportive of Susan and their children. To suggest otherwise is sadly uninformed, misleading, and scurrilous. Contracts are drafted to cover extreme but remote situations, and, out of context, are easily misconstrued. Anyone suggesting that Joe and Susan have been anything other than cooperative and caring with and towards one another are ignorant of the reality." {TMZ }

(37,326 posts)going on "book signings" together, going with each other when only one of them is a guest on a show (I remember when Mika was on Colbert's show, Colbert mentioned that Joe was backstage-same when she went on Letterman. They're ALWAYS together.) And Mika met her husband at work. Their body language speaks volumes, too.
CTyankee
(63,912 posts)when he revealed that Joe was backstage. He probably thinks people assume that he is "mentoring" her, but in my long experience seeing such "mentoring" it rarely precludes a sexual relationship. I'll bet Susan wasn't too happy about THAT caper.
IIRC, didn't Hillary say that she initially believed that Bill was "counseling" Monica Lewinsky about her career choice or something?
jenmito
(37,326 posts)and I LOVED it. He knew exactly what he was doing. And I'm SURE Susan didn't like it. And when they're together, they act like a married couple. Mika's always touching Joe-hitting him, taking pieces of lint off his clothing, etc.

(63,912 posts)CT (WTNH). Mika was a reporter for the station covering Hartford. She has surpassed him in her career (I think he is covering NJ politics as an investigative reporter now). I think they live in Bronxville NY (saw a reference to the daughters' high school somewhere). So I'm guessing she makes a lot more money than he does and, of course, she has the glamor thing going and she's published a few books. Definitely an imbalance between the two careerwise...
jenmito
(37,326 posts)I know the story with her husband. And the fact that she met him at work adds to my conclusion that she's now unofficially with JOE, whom she ALSO met at work. And yes, she definitely has outgrown Jim, and she's even getting bigger than Joe, but they're more on the same level.
