Morgan Griffith, GOP Rep, Compares Default To American Revolution

Source: Huffington Post

Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-Va.) compared the looming default to the American Revolution on Saturday after a meeting with House Republicans.

The Hill reports Griffith suggested that even if it resulted in a severely damaging default, the House should reject an unfavorable agreement from the Senate.

“We have to make a decision that’s right long-term for the United States, and what may be distasteful, unpleasant and not appropriate in the short run may be something that has to be done,” Griffith said, according to The Hill. “I will remind you that this group of renegades that decided that they wanted to break from the crown in 1776 did great damage to the economy of the colonies. They created the greatest nation and the best form of government, but they did damage to the economy in the short run.”

a civil war, yet. But still you know they have always been trying to even the 1-0 score. Just can't stand being losers. Like the 42 or 43 or 44 to nothing score on the ACA. Must suck being part of the loser crowd.

"They created the greatest nation and the best form of government"

Do tell. Griffith and the tea baggers being able to hold entire country hostage over some nutcase, loony toon, political philosophy of theirs kind of disproves that. While our friends and allies with other forms of democratic government scratch their heads and wonder what the hell is wrong with the US.

Originally we operated under the Articles of Confederation, where the national government was more akin to an overarching UN for the 13 sovereign state governments. Or perhaps the League of Nations is a better analogy, considering how weak and toothless the national government was under the articles.

Had it not been replaced with the more centralized Federal government of the Constitution in 1789, we would have been a collection of petty squabbling, back-biting states and within a generation we would have been pried apart by European powers playing one group against the others.

What an idiot. The American Revolutionary War was fought under the Articles of Confederation. It was the US Constitution that gave us our present form of government. The one these TREASONOUS Republican IDIOTS want to destroy.
