OMB: Federal Employees Should Expect To Return To Work Thursday. President to sign tonight

Source: TPM

Federal employees furloughed as a result of the government shutdown should expect to return to work tomorrow morning, Office of Management and Budget director Sylvia Matthews Burwell announced in a statement on Wednseday night.

"Now that the bill has passed the United States Senate and the House of Representatives, the President plans to sign it tonight and employees should expect to return to work in the morning," Burwell said in a statement moments after the House passed a deal to avert default and reopen the government. "Employees should be checking the news and OPM's website for further updates."

As a furloughed federal employee, I'll tell you that it will take more than
9 hours notice to round everybody up and get them to the office in the morning!

We all expected to return Friday- and our Agency website says they don't know yet.

The buildings were shut down totally ( the climate control systems were put in some kind of stand-by mode) and the servers have to be rebooted. Depending on the agency, this alone will take the better part of a day.

The people who can't get voted any back pay for their missed work. The government contracting officer needs to contact the contractor contracting officer to okay these people to come back to work.

the government had to give the employees 24 hours notice before demanding that they come back to work! That would be Friday, not Thursday!

Anybody know anything different about it?

Thanks in advance!
