(15,882 posts)$85 Billion a month. Great news, especially if you're a banker, since we have recovered and all. Except for all the additional people added to the food stamp rolls since the Recovery Act was passed, of course.
...
The 2009 Recovery Acts temporary boost to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits is scheduled to end on November 1, 2013, resulting in a benefit cut for every SNAP household. For families of three, the cut will be $29 a month a total of $319 for November 2013 through September 2014, the remaining months of fiscal year 2014.[2] Thats a serious loss, especially in light of the very low amount of basic SNAP benefits. Without the Recovery Acts boost, SNAP benefits will average less than $1.40 per person per meal in 2014. (See Table 2 for estimates of the size of the SNAP cut in each state in fiscal year 2014.) Nationally, the total cut is estimated to be $5 billion in fiscal year 2014.
..
On with the party! Happy Holidays, Everyone!

(34,136 posts)And everyone knows the entire country needs our roads, bridges, power grid, hospitals, schools, and more rebuilt. If we budgeted to work on 10% a year, people could get jobs, the economy would pick up, tax revenues would increase, fewer people would need unemployment, food stamps and other assistance.
Even business should like this since decaying infrastructure costs them money every day - and an employed populace buys more stuff.

(579 posts)and Rush Limbaugh are going to turn this around and give Republicans credit for ending the shutdown! How they helped the economy and the country and how Obama almost ruined it for all of us!

(7,349 posts)to suffer during this debacle. The silver lining is that the GOP showed their faces so clearly, that few will forget it come election time.
