ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Plans to add guardrails sought by a Pitkin County billionaire for a road to his home are being scaled back.
County road officials say they may only install guardrails on dangerous parts of the highway.
Billionaire Bill Koch hired consultants to put together a plan for installing guardrails along a road leading to his home and held a community meeting on the issue.
According to the Aspen Times, a traffic engineer hired by Koch identified about 5 miles of roadway where a guardrail could improve safety, but only about a mile of guardrail is being considered.

He can pay more on his taxes or hire his own damn crew at his own expense to get it done. Don't freeload off Colorado, Bill.
Colorado has more higher priorities than your pathetic 5 mile road.

(14,887 posts)democracy is sponging off wage earners taxes. He hires a traffic engineer to tell the county where to put guard rails on the road to HIS lair but he can't HIRE persons to install them? I don't even live there and I'm hopping mad.

(6,918 posts)Mr. "no government regulation" Koch wants the government to pay for guardrails for a road leading to his home? The really nervy part is that he created a phony "grassroots" effort by hiring a consultant and then held a community meeting to make it seem like it was someone else's idea.
Maybe he can get Scott Walker to donate some money to the cause . . .
