Rob Ford vows legal action after council votes to strip him of powers

Source: The Globe and Mail

Toronto’s City Council has voted to limit some of Mayor Rob Ford’s powers in an unprecedented attempt to control the damage caused by the controversial chief magistrate.

However, a subdued Mr. Ford said he would challenge his colleagues’ decisions in court. He has hired veteran lawyer George Rust-D’Eye, an expert in municipal law, saying he would pay his own legal fees but criticized the cost to taxpayers.

... Councillors voted 39-3 to take away Mr. Ford’s ability to appoint and fire the chairs of the city’s standing committees and the deputy mayor. They also voted 41-2 to give his powers in an emergency to the deputy mayor. Mr. Ford and his brother Councillor Doug Ford opposed both motions. Councillor David Shiner joined them on the first vote.

... A poll, conducted by Ipsos Reid for CTV News, CP24 and Newstalk 1010 Radio, found that 40 per cent of respondents approved of the mayor’s personal job performance – a significant bedrock of support given recent events. He also had the trust of 34 per cent of residents and he received a 30 per cent credibility rating.

And that same base will unquestioningly vote for Stephen Harper again, and his provincial counterpart for Ontario's premier, regardless of their endless scandals and dimwitted, destructive social policies. They don't believe in an entity called 'society', just "Me! Me! Me! Me!..."

I'm not sure what to make of this name...

Was I. P. Freely busy with another case at this law firm?

Edit: Holy shit, he's a real person. (Pronounced George Rusday, in his own voice)

does. I hope they look at that and think, "Hmmm...that crack-smoking, profane pervert in Canada, the national joke of Canada, has 3x the approval rating we do."

"I'm a crack-smokin', murder-threatenin', corrupt-as-hell public official and I'm takin' you to court!"
That takes some serious Nards. Or Ford is too wasted to comprehend the absurdity.
