Mormon church traces black priesthood ban to Brigham Young

Source: The Salt Lake Tribune

In the past, the LDS Church has said history isn’t clear on why blacks were banned from its all-male priesthood for more than a century.

Apparently, it now is.

The reason, according to a newly released explanation from the Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is rooted more in racism than revelation

We can now add the title 'Racist' to Brigham Young's resume. I wonder if the title will be engraved on all the statues and plaques that extoll his virtues which are scattered throughout the country including the US Capitol. What about his namesake school, Brigham Young University? I grew up in Utah and was branded as unworthy and unqualified by my peers because I didn't subscribe to their racist beliefs. Now we all know who the real fuckwads were all along.

have been acting like it is some revelation from God who, according to the "holy books" , CREATED everyone...all colors, all sexes, all people, all animals.

How long do people have to keep swimming in this sea of stupidity? Racism is just frikkin' racism. It is fear, hatefulness, stupidity. And just like religion has done for millennia, it can kill a lot of innocent people, and destroy the happiness of many more.

Religious beliefs inform their writings and interpretations. The think there was a migration from "bible lands" and that many objects are religious even when there is no evidence.

No harm, no foul, right?

I mean, that sort of gap in communication from an all-powerful, all-knowing deity is totally normal, after setting up the religion in the first place right? Can't blame him, he's such a busy fellow.

He would point to the lone black guy in the cafeteria or the two Pacific islanders to show me how wonderful and diverse this religion is. I felt this overwhelming evil feeling however, a presence, and I never went back.

Wow, were they surprised chocolate contains a drug!

They were part of the propaganda effort against the Evil Commies in Latin America, and a great place to recruit missionaries (CIA operatives).
