Iowa Voters Prefer Chris Christie to Hillary Clinton in 2016 matchup (45-40%)
Source: New Jersey.com December 17, 2013 at 7:00 AM
Gov. Chris Christie leads Hillary Clinton by 5 percentage points among Iowa voters surveyed about the presidential race, according to a poll released today. The governor would win 45 percent to 40 percent in a hypothetical contest with the former secretary of state, a Quinnipiac University poll shows.
Christies showing is an improvement over where he stood with Hawkeye State voters over the summer. At that time, Christie and Clinton were neck and neck.
As the first-in-the-nation caucus state, Iowa plays an outsized role in the nominating contests. Some have wondered how Christies brand of conservatism would play in a state like Iowa where he is likely to face challenges from the far right.
New Jersey Gov. Christopher Christie pulls ahead of Secretary Hillary Clinton among Iowa voters, said Peter Brown, assistant director of the poll. The change from the last time Quinnipiac University polled Iowa, July 22 when they were tied 41 41 percent, reflects a general improvement for Republicans.

(11,519 posts)And Iowa, by the way, went for Obama in the last election.
The exit polls showed that, although Christie won by a landslide, Hillary would win the state in 2016.

I don't want her.

(20,450 posts)Hillary. Then, the closer we come to the election, the media will turn on the Clintons.
The same happened to Obama. They apparently loved him during the primaries (though very minimally), until they could put the two Democrats against each other. Then when it was clear that Obama was going to win, they turn on him and embraced McCain.
The Corporate Media is very craftly when it comes to how it embraces its preferable candidate.

(14,087 posts)They keep putting out all this lying propaganda to turn everyone toward the republicans. They could be educating people on what the ramifications are for continuing down this road, and they are trying to HIDE those facts.

(5,861 posts)Or as many issues as possible. The personality contest is great and everything but it is not helping this country.
For the past several election cycles we have had both candidates be to the right of most Americans on most issues. That doesn't make any sense.

(4,869 posts)Since Reagan Iowa has only went Republican in a Presidential election ONCE.
We have crazies here, but we also catapulted Obama to the front and routinely elect one of the most liberal members of the senate, Harkin. We're not Massachusetts, but we're not Oklahoma or Kansas either.

(15,185 posts)because one poll from a very small state (a state which is almost always close and has gone red only once since '00), almost three years before the election, is showing one of two undeclared candidates ahead!

(30,250 posts)Christie is on a high due to his landslide reelection win. I'm still pissed that 60 Democratic officials (including several mayors) endorsed the bastard. On an aside, that's what brought on "Bridgegate". The Democratic mayor of Fort Lee refused to endorse him. Two of Christie's hacks who he placed in the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (they operate the G. Washington bridge) decided without any warning to anyone, including the public, that they would close several access lanes to the bridge on the NJ side. The closure lasted 4 days and caused miles of backed-up traffic. The two hacks have since resigned.
In a nutshell that's Christie for you, a character out of the Sopranos. A bully, rude, nasty, bloviating sack of crap. He's also my governor (lucky me).
All Democrats, starting with Obama, are being brought down by the ACA. Hillary's polls went down the minute that the problems with the website became rampant. Hopefully, the website and people's perception of the ACA, will improve by 2015.
In the meantime, there's no need to worry about a poll taken 3 years before an election.

(4,869 posts)I guess they had their fun swooping in and lying about Iowa politics and swooping out. Maybe its just a broad hatred of everything in fly-over country? Lord knows we see enough of that on this board.
