Gov. Brown pardons 127 convicted criminals

Gov. Jerry Brown pardoned 127 convicted criminals Tuesday, the most clemencies a governor has granted in at least 50 years when combined with the 65 he granted last Easter.
All of the people who received pardons had completed their sentences and been out of custody for more than a decade without further criminal activity.
"It's a great Christmas present," said Livermore resident Justin Keele, who learned just days ago that his pardon request was granted.
Keele was 24 in 1989 when he was sentenced in Alameda County for possessing and selling marijuana. He served three years' probation, completing his sentence in 1992. He said he immediately began building a life not defined by his felony past.

Our system is messed up.
