GWB scandal: Kelly, Stepien to present evidence in court after refusing to comply with subpoenas
Source: Bergen Record
Two of Governor Christie's former aides, who refused to comply with subpoenas in connection with the bridge scandal, will have to defend their decision in court, according to an order released Thursday.
Former Deputy Chief of Staff Bridge Anne Kelly and Bill Stepien, Christies former campaign manager, or their counsel will be asked on March 11 to present evidence as to why they should not have to comply with the committees subpoena. The hearing is scheduled to take place in Superior Court in Mercer County, where the state capital is located.
Kelly and Stepien both claimed their Fifth Amendment right to remain silent allowed them to decline to produce documents. The subpoena asked for a large variety of documentation relating to the closure of local lanes at the entrance to the George Washington Bridge in September.
At the court hearing, the two will be asked to explain why they haven't complied with the subpoena and why they shouldnt be required to comply or be punished for refusing to comply.

Their explanations as to why they should not be in contempt are going to be very interesting.
