Sandusky's wife: Victims manipulated over money

Source: AP

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) —The wife of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky says she "definitely" believes her husband is innocent despite being convicted of sexually abusing 10 boys and that the victims' financial gain was at play.

Dottie Sandusky said in an interview broadcast Wednesday on NBC's "Today" show that "there was nothing that went on because I was here" in the couple's small home in State College, where some of the victims reported being abused in the basement.

Although one accuser said his muffled screams went unheard by her upstairs, Sandusky heard nothing "because he didn't scream," she said after giving interviewer Matt Lauer a tour of the house. "It's not a dungeon," she noted of the basement.

...

"I think it was, they were manipulated, and they saw money," she said. "Once lawyers came into the case, they said there was money."

Harrisburg Patriot-News: Post-conviction life has its trials for the Sanduskys, Dottie tells "Today"

Centre Daily Times: ‘I definitely believe him,’ Dottie Sandusky says of her husband

Yeah, a bunch of young men definitely would slander an innocent man for millions. That is definitely realistic huh? Why isn't this woman charged with obstruction of justice?

As for Paterno, while the lead Sandusky prosecutor has said there's no evidence Joe Paterno actively covered up for Sandusky, Louis Freeh's investigation says otherwise.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

"she's just a dumb bitch"? Sorry but this kind of talk belongs on MRA sites or Free Republic, even if talking about someone as cold hearted as Jerry Sandusky's in-denial wife.

I'm a woman. Does that mean I can't call another woman a bitch, a public person who is offensive in every sense of the word, as some persons of color use a certain word with each another and defend it as acceptable, but only by them? Why is this any different? I argue no. And I promise this is not blatant misogyny. You don't have a clue as I've experienced it first hand so I know what it is not, and what it IS.

That's the difference.

Just curious, but what makes her a "bitch" other than just being a woman? If it's based on her actions or words, what would you call a man with the same traits, and why isn't that term appropriate for both genders?

It is really hard to say how someone keeps up this kind of talk. Being complicit in the crime is certainly possible. It was paying of for her financially to be at least tacitly supportive of his "fun". She might think if she keeps up the act people will at least not blame HER.

She may have told herself that it really didn't matter what he did to those kids because they were "better off" for the help they received from his charity and the stuff he gave them. Which is insane, but there are people who can believe that kind of crap.

Sick, sick stuff no matter why she keeps up this pretense.

Does she think that lawyers are so uniformly dirty that we somehow find people to fabricate this shit over and over? We worked hard to get through college, law school and pass the Bar exams, but we are willing to throw it all away and go to jail to fabricate a fake lawsuit that would be scrutinized by national media? I don't think so and I am tired of this crap. Most lawyers are honest believe or not! There are unscrupulous people in every profession, I think it has more to do with the fear that people have for attorneys since we could surely ruin your day. You won't hear from me unless you did something wrong or made a very bad mistake. We police our own very well in order to protect what little good reputation we have with the general public. If doctors worked as hard as lawyers in policing their own medical malpractice would almost be a thing of the past. Six percent of the doctors commit 90% of the malpractice. Sorry for the rant down the rabbit trail but I get so many RW nut jobs telling me that their case is legitimate, unlike most of my other cases. That is what one just told me like it was a given that most of my docket were made up of frivolous lawsuits. Just so you know, it is hard enough to get a jury to award money to a victim in a clear case of liability since almost all Republicans believe you should just accept and deal with it instead of sue, unless of course it happens to them. I do get pleasure when I can tell those people that due to the tort reform they supported they are capped on damages or no longer have a claim. The looks on their faces is priceless when they bleat, "but I have a REAL case!"

It's related to their reason for thinking feeding poor kids is a bad thing or that people that can't afford rent should learn to be waterproof.

Apparently it's an affront to justice or something to have someone that knows how the system works representing the little people in civil court or criminal trials. Anything that brings the have-nots closer to anything remotely resembling equal footing is going to bring about a wailing and gnashing of teeth.
