Top Obama Aide, Lawyer Met With Feinstein

Source: NBC NEWS

By Andrea Mitchell

White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough and White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler met with Sen. Dianne Feinstein late Tuesday to try to deescalate the dispute between the Senate Intelligence Committee and the CIA, NBC News has learned.

The pair met with Feinstein, D-Calif., after a lengthy intelligence panel meeting.

In his first comments on the controversy, President Barack Obama urged the Senate Wednesday to complete its report on past CIA interrogation practices as soon as possible. But Obama would not weigh in on the dispute itself because the matter is under investigation.

White House spokesman Jay Carney confirmed that CIA Director John Brennan and the CIA's acting general counsel both referred the Senate's treatment of classified documents to the Justice Department for a possible criminal investigation.

Feinstein says that referral is merely an attempt to intimidate the intelligence committee’s staff, whom she claims was acting appropriately. The California Democrat was particularly incensed because the CIA lawyer who asked for the criminal investigation was himself the subject of the probe into interrogation practices.

Trust me, if SHE is speaking out, some serious hills of shit are about to cave in and rain all over the CIA/NSA and everyone in between. She would never speak out unless it was her little toe about to get chopped off. If it is, you can be sure heads are about to roll.

Don't tackle big issues if your political party will suffer for it. Don't pursue war criminals if your party will suffer for it. Don't take any stance at all, if possible, that might cost your political party votes, somewhere.

Don't rock the boat - the corporations will take care of it all.

rarely mentioned and is also not mentioned in this nbc link.

I've heard mentioned a couple of times, but I want to see it in writing so that I can remember it. If anyone has it, that would be appreciated.

If you follow the rule of law for the convicted there is a death penalty in US Statutes for murderers, human traffickers, rapists and torturers-and it applies to their Chain of Command.

Kick.
