Cliven Bundy standoff: Locals want armed militia out, lawmaker says

Source: L.A. Times

The Nevada congressman whose district includes the ranch of a cattleman battling the federal government over grazing rights on public land says he wants the rancher’s armed supporters to leave.

"The community wants them to go," Rep. Steven Horsford, a freshman Democrat, said in an interview. The armed militiamen, some openly brandishing semi-automatic rifles, have been posted outside the Bunkersville ranch of Cliven Bundy for weeks.

The scene has caused many of his constituents to fear for their safety, Horsford said. "And it’s affecting our local economy."

Horsford met with the local sheriff last Sunday and is working to convene a meeting with other elected officials, including the governor, later this week to discuss how to deal with the self-described citizen soldiers.

Didn't the repugs along with the NRA abolish any laws which were to promote a civilized society?

Just not sure what the best course of action would be to this one.

Perhaps cordoning them off would be interesting, and demolish the roads leading to the ranch, bypassing them.
They obviously don't want government infrastructure helping them.

Is probably a lot closer to what the authors of the Constitution had in mind when they adopted the Second Amendment than those lunatics out there at Bundy's ranch are.

Actually, I think the daily activities of Boko Haram turns these guys on. With enough weaponry, they too could rule large swaths of land and steal from those they deem unworthy to live. Same pattern.

These guys probably think Nigeria is some sort of facial cream. They don't give a fuck about anything outside of their own little bubble of reality that they built for themselves. They are totally insulated.

do it here, but that's the trend with these groups.

It's not just an American phenomena, they are following the same path with their secessionist credo as some in eastern Ukraine. They may have just cause in Europe, but here the provocation is the fact that a black man in their White House.

They think it's too out of place, as PBO should be picking cotton. They have that mentality, that they can tell other people what to do and how to live their lives, but no one can tell them a thing.

With enough numbers and power, they'd enforce their bullshit on the rest of us. The Teapers are doing it already, like termites in government destroying all they can't personally control that they intend to steal.

I have no sympathy for their causes as they have cost the lives of many even without a shot being fired directly. And these thugs were aiming at LEOs in ambush and now are interfering with local government. They are giving notice they will steal Commons with arms and no democratic process is respected by them.

We have text, video and pictures on DU of them doing these things. I have NO sympathy or feeling for what these guys are trying to do in Nevada or elsewhere.

They have good access to social media, because that is how they came to converge there. They are not that ignorant, they want to do this here, but too many people oppose them and they know it.

YMMV on these events.
