Live Updates: Arkansas counties issue same-sex marriage licenses

Washington County will issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples at 8 a.m. Monday, Becky Lewallen, county clerk, told 40/29 News.
Carroll and Pulaski counties said they would issue the licenses Monday morning. Carroll County issued the first licenses Saturday.
A lawyer for gay couples who sued for the right to obtain a marriage license in Arkansas said if the state's Supreme Court rules against them, they would appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The County Clerk's offices for Benton, Franklin and Madison said they will not be issuing same-sex marriage licenses today. The Sebastian County clear said they will issue a statement Monday morning.

(15,730 posts)FAYETTEVILLE, Ark The Washington County clerk's office made an announcement Monday morning that it would be issuing marriage certificates to same-sex couples at the county courthouse Monday morning.
Dozens waited in line early Monday morning to have their chance at getting a license. Amid cheers, laughs, and the occasional tears of joy, more than 30 couples were married within the first hour of the county clerk's office opening .
