Sasse's dominant victory in Senate race affirms Tea Party influence in Nebraska

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Roseann Moring and Joseph Morton

LINCOLN — To Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ben Sasse, his blowout primary victory is a win for sweeping ideas and the U.S. Constitution.

“We were only going to do this (campaign) if we were going to talk about big, bold, conservative ideas,” he said. “It was about the argument we want to make for our kids and grandkids.”

Meanwhile, national conservative groups claimed the victory as a win for their movement.

“Ben Sasse's decisive victory tonight is a major victory for the conservative movement against the Washington establishment,” declared an election-night press release from David N. Bossie, president of Citizens United, which endorsed Sasse.

The best statement for a teafuck is to win an election and stay home for six years.

Otherwise, you're a phony.

And his kid Pete just won the Republican nomination for Governor.

Nebraska is headed the same direction as Kanas.

theme that the Teahadists/Rethuglicans are dissolving/etc. It leads to complacency. The same was said about Goldwater and the Rethugs. It didn't happen then and it will not now. Come November, they will still vote in droves because that is what they have been trained to do. We of the left need to see that policy and one-up it, as many others posters have said. It needs to be reiterrated from time to time, it seems that folk get forgetful/hopeful.

I like to think I follow politics pretty closely here and it seems these jagoff candidates come from nowhere backed by big dollars. I had never heard of Hagel before and he flooded the state with ads with money and next thing I knew he was a senator. I love the state, but the politics are screwed. We did have Kerry as governor and senator, far from a flaming liberal, but certainly better than Haircut Nelson who might as well have just been a Republican. Of course all the farmers are against the big bad federal government but happily take their farm subsidies.

Peace
