Christie: Bridgegate Won't Impact Political Future
Source: NBC News
Gov. Chris Christie believes the scandal over the George Washington Bridge lane closures will have no impact on his political career, saying that the Bridgegate matter will be a footnote by the time the 2016 campaign begins.
I think it will have none, because I didnt do anything, he answered when asked by CBSs Bob Schieffer about the scandals impact during a forum hosted by the Peterson Foundation.
In the end, what the people of New Jersey know about me is I tell them the truth, he said. I told them I had nothing to do with it, and now youve had all kinds of people looking at this for nearly four and a half months now, and there hasnt been one suggestion that I knew anything about it.
Christie confirmed that he is still thinking about running for president and said he will make the decision about a White House run later.

(81,267 posts)Great to have you join us! Just let the drip-drip-drip keep on keepin' on! How many credit downgrades? How many scandals? How many of his immediate underlings refusing to testify - until maybe they're facing jail time? Some of that is gonna stick. He's totally damaged goods, I think. And his opponents on the wrong-wing will soften him up and punch all kinds of holes in him along the way - because THEY want him out of the way, too.

(43 posts)I know quite a few Republicans, one or two who live in NJ, who think he totally disgusting, both personally and politically.
Going by their "standards" that's gotta make him the absolute DREGS.

(81,267 posts)Good to have you with us! He truly will NOT be the judge of that. He may get the in-denial people who don't want to admit they were wrong about him. And he may get the teabagger contingent that is willfully ignorant and just likes his in-her-face schtick. But that won't be enough to get him out of primary season. He's damaged goods. And I'll bet it'll just take a little threat of jail time for our friend Bridget of the Bridge to start singing like a canary. At that point he's probably finished.
