Obama urges serious investigation of Florida teen killing
Published on Fri, Mar 23, 2012 at 20:06 | Source : Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Friday it was "absolutely imperative" that police investigate every aspect of the killing of an unarmed black teenager in Florida by a neighborhood watch captain.

Weighing into the controversial February 26 shooting of Trayvon Martin for the first time, Obama said the "tragedy" had made him think of his own two young daughters.

"My main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon. I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves and that we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened."

that might be one of the most powerful comments of his administration.

And like everyone else, other journalists get sloppy and cut corners...like the one who wote this piece. Zimmerman is an armed, serial 911-calling, self-appointed neighborhood watch captain.

I'm crying about this one minute and cursing a blue streak the next.

We have the right-wing HATE/FEAR MACHINE to thank for this kind of injustice - hate radio, Faux News, the cowardly GOP and the over-reaching, fearmongering NRA. Time for real patriots to stand up together.

Some times I achieve writing like that but I have to think.

He did it off the cuff. Wow!

But I have to disagree with him, on one emotional point, Trayvon would not look like you..He looked like your daughters.

The little girls that Ann Coulter would like to go after.Trayvon is dead and the children of the President are guarded by REALLY BIG WEAPONS.

So please Ann....try. However I understand lots of bullets ripping through your skin can be rather unpleasant.

Oh and BTW they will eventually be prettier than you.

If we all agreed on everything we wouldn't be thinking, (Like the you-know-who party)
Agreeing sometimes and disagreeing other times is how ideas progress.

I'm sure our president would agree himself.
You can disagree with policies but still retain respect for the person proposing them.

I disagree.

let's send Juan Williams out into a nice, gated neighborhood with a "neighborhood watch" person with a John Wayne complex. Dress J.W. in jeans hanging down over his ass and in a hoodie ...

and see if he feels safer than in that plane with a Muslim ...

The Republicans will use this to smear the president and Treyvon Martin because Obama "politicized" a local investigation.

Hopefully the family will gain a little hope/comfort knowing even the President of the United States wants justice for their child's death.
