Movie and television star Patty Duke left the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where she was treated for irritable bowel syndrome, Sunday.
Bruce Crawford, who brought Duke to Omaha for a Friday screening of "The Miracle Worker" at Joslyn Art Museum, said the Oscar-winning actress intended to complete her speaking tour.
Crawford said he spoke with Dukes husband, Michael Pearce, who said his wife was feeling fine and ready to get back on the road.
She wants people to know that she is feeling much better and that she thanks everyone for their concern, Crawford said.

"Unsavory" characters came to the hospital wanting to see her!! Claiming to be her friends. When the desk clerk asked
them what was Patty's husbands name they didn't know and were escorted out by guards!!!

(301 posts)I wondered what she had that was bad enough to flatten her but "not serious."
IBS is a miserable thing.

(81,440 posts)Glad you're here! I love Patty Duke! Had the chance to interview her - she is truly a first-class artist and wonderful, charming woman. I wish her well! She's still got a lot of years and gifted work to offer!

(1,805 posts)Was one of my favorites when a kid. Makes me feel about 90 (I should be so lucky to live that long) And The Miracle Worker is a classic! Let's hope she has a full recovery.

(7,570 posts)You're probably remembering The Patty Duke show, where, kind of like Mills, she played a dual role as two very different cousins who looked alike.

(28,498 posts)You, too, Cathy!
I watched her show all through the '60s.
On a side note, I often wondered if there was a correlation between "The Patty Duke Show" and the comic strip "The Jackson Twins"
"Jackson Twins" ran from 1950 to 1979--
And "Patty Duke" ran from 1963 to 1966.
Both involved:
Twin, teen-aged girls;
A younger, occasionally wisecracking brother;
Supportive parents;
Traditional, middle-class family.
