Chip Maxwell kicks off campaign for Congress

Chip Maxwell is making it official.
The former Douglas County commissioner who has angered some Republicans by mounting an independent bid for Congress announced Friday that he plans to kick off his campaign by holding a series of pizza parties.
Maxwell will hold his fundraisers at three Mama’s Pizza locations on June 16, 17 and 18, starting at 5 p.m. each night.
“I believe deeply in what I am doing, but it’s going to be a rough ride. Some political insiders are upset that I am doing an end run around them and going directly to the people with a petition drive,” Maxwell said in a press release. “What encourages me is the enthusiasm of regular folks who want something better than business-as-usual politics.”
