Tennessee Primary Results Find House Republicans in Close Calls

A pair of House Republicans in Tennessee were clinging to their seats Thursday night, with GOP primary challengers making formative showings.

Rep. Scott DesJarlais was trailing state Sen. Jim Tracy in the 4th District by more than 300 votes with 77 percent of precincts reporting, according to The Associated Press. Republican Rep. Chuck Fleischmann was barely ahead of his primary rival. The AP has not called either race.

Results were trickling in all evening, as Sen. Lamar Alexander prevailed during his primary.

In the 3rd District, Fleischmann was ahead of venture capitalist Weston Wamp with nearly all of the precincts reporting. Fleischmann had 50.8 percent to 49.2 percent, with 94 percent of precincts reporting, according to The Associated Press.

If DesJarlais ens up winning the primary it should be pretty easy for Headrick to attack DesJarlais as a hypocrite on abortion AND unethical person for having affairs with patients then making his mistresses have abortions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_DesJarlais#Personal_life

2. I live in TN 4th.

I voted in the GOP primary, which is something I've never done, or even considered doing before.

Jim Tracy is even more of a loathsome creep than DesJarlais which is not necessarily a disadvantage in the 4th these days. I voted with disgust for DesJarlais in the probably futile hope that he can be beat.

Mostly, I wanted to help deny the loathsome conspiracy-nut and "Minuteman Patriot" Joe Carr any opportunity to appear on the ballot for US Senator in November.
