An Oklahoma man was charged in federal court Tuesday in connection with death threats sent to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and his family.
The Tulsa World reported that Charles Jason Moreland, 31, allegedly sent threatening messages about Reid and his family in April through Reid's congressional web page. Federal prosecutors allege that he sent messages in all capital letters calling Reid a "dead man," according to the Associated Press.
An affidavit in support of a warrant to search Moreland's residence states that he also allegedly sent an email in September to the White House threatening to travel to Washington and "start killing people if the monitoring of his Internet and cell phones did not stop," according to the Tulsa World.
If convicted, Moreland faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
