Tennessee’s Corker won’t rule out presidential bid

Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker says he is not ruling out joining the field of Republicans running for president in 2016.

Corker said Wednesday that any decision would wait until next year. If Corker joined the race, he would have to play catch up to Republicans with higher national profiles. Corker hasn’t visited any early primary states and has no current plans to do so. He also says he has not been in talks with major donors.

Corker is a multimillionaire who made a fortune as the head of a construction company. He has been willing to work with Democrats on the auto bailout and financial regulations, which has brought criticism from fellow Republicans.

Corker is two years into his second term.

You could find something just as bad about all of them - including Christie (Ft Lee), Bush (being related to GW and his own problems), Paul (could a Democrat have survived being a known worshipper of Aqua Buddah!), Walker (why is he still not indicted?), Ryan (with his many lies) ....

Corker actually could look and sound sane next to many of them. I do remember that he was one of the few Republicans to actually show up at the SFRC hearings other than Lugar - in the last Congress.

the GOP party faithful. The guy is no GOP Jimmy Carter--I don't know how well he'd travel.

Of course, don't forget Wailin' Palin!! She'd be fun on the candidates' stage!! And wasn't Michelle Bachman making noise about a run...?

He was also one of the first politicians to step out and say, "Let Detroit go bankrupt." I could not imagine someone being so cold as to put his stamp of approval on those workers who were so close to earning their pensions becoming creditors in a bankruptcy proceeding.

Once a company goes bankrupt, the workers with pension claims get in line with all other creditors and they must take whatever the court gives them in satisfaction for their claim. Barbaric. Many companies declare bankruptcy to avoid pension obligations to their workers; then they regroup with another company and just start anew.

It used to be against the law to bankrupt pension funds. The laws were changed to allow corporations to list them as assets instead of liabilities.

the Tea Party guys are no fan of Corker. I could be wrong, but I detect a slight bit of intellectual honesty in Corker, that he isn't purely trolling everyone for political gain as is my impression with most potential Republican candidates.

Just my first impression from seeing him on tv a few times, could be mistaken.

as his buddies Lamar Alexander (and by the way, they don't really like each other) and Fred Thompson. Lamar is a nebbish of the first order, and Fred was really more interested in his acting career. Corker is like that annoying yappy little dog your neighbor has. Nobody's going to vote for him once they hear the yap-yap-yap.
