...apparently they are holding the patient in isolation.
Obviously, it goes without saying that we hope this turns out to be an unnecessary precaution...

The patient is "being" tested for Ebola.

Patient "Tested for Ebola" makes it sound like he tested positive for Ebola. At least that was my first thought.

I hope he's ok.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Why is it even in the news? Way to start a panic when it might be completely unwarranted.

Test the patient first, and then talk about what it is or isn't. Geez....

and lived a few minutes from it for nine years. That's why I was drawn to the story. I overreacted when I saw the headline, but I did read the article. I know there are people who will just assume that there is Ebola in Sacramento and spread that perception very quickly. You'll probably hear from a bunch of them tomorrow!!!

I overreacted - and then went on to read the story.

Many people never bother to read past the headline. This headline was written intentionally for just those people. Pisses me off.

Louie Gohmert will go on screaming "See? See? I TOLD ya! I TOLD ya those filthy illegals from South America were bringing Ebola into the country, but would our America-hating president listen? No, and I'm filing articles of impeachment the second I get back from vacation. Why the hell not? It's not like some commie Democrat is gonna take MY seat!"

Seriously though, why would anybody with a serious illness go to Kaiser South Sac and not to UC Davis or Sutter at least? I'd share all the stories I know of botched treatment at Kaiser South but I don't want to fuck up DU's bandwidth for the month.

The patient may have been exposed to the Ebola virus, so the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will conduct blood samples.
What exactly happened that they think this patient may have been exposed? Has he just arrived from Africa? Is he a researcher who works with the virus and maybe suffered an accidental needle stick?
