UN Security Council Meets on Ukraine Crisis

Source: Associated Press

The U.N. Security Council met Thursday in an emergency session on the growing crisis in Ukraine with some members expressing outrage.

U.N. Undersecretary-General of Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman told council members, as the meeting began, that the latest developments mark a "dangerous escalation in the conflict."

Alarm has grown as a top NATO official said at least 1,000 Russian troops have poured into Ukraine with sophisticated equipment and have been in direct "contact" with Ukrainian soldiers, resulting in casualties.

Russian Ambassador to the U.N. Vitaly Churkin told reporters "You're at a loss" as he walked into a morning council session and gave no further comment.

Even now, they're saying the russian troops are just on "vacation" and there on their own accord. Never mind all the weaponry they took with them.
People get killed in war. Thats what happens. Break the enemy.

10. That's the secret. Don't ask for UN permission - one veto will kill that. Go ahead and invade then

9. Putin calls on E. Ukraine militia to provide blocked Kiev troops with safe corridor to Russia

President Putin has called on the self-defense militias in Ukraine to provide Kiev's military units blocked in the east of the country with a safe humanitarian corridor to cross into Russia.

“It is obvious that the militia has reached a considerable success in curbing Kiev’s military operation, that had been a deadly threat to the population of Donbass and already led to heavy casualties among civilians,” the Russian leader said in a statement.

As a result of militias’ counter-offense, large numbers of Ukrainian troops – many of whom were taking part in Kiev’s so-called anti-terrorist operation “against their will” and “just following orders” – have been surrounded, the President added.

“I urge the militias to open a humanitarian corridor for Ukrainian troops that were surrounded, in order to avoid meaningless victims and provide them with the opportunity to freely withdraw from the battlefield area, to be reunited with their families, to return to their mothers, wives and children,” Putin said.
