Muslim Engineer Banned From Working At Nuclear Sites In France
Source: Huffington Post
A French court has upheld the decision to prohibit a 29-year-old Muslim engineer from working at nuclear test sites because of his alleged links to a jihadist terrorist group, officials say. However, the unnamed man's lawyer, Sefen Guez Guez, told Agence France-Presse that the court's decision on Monday was a result of "Islamophobia" and that "there is no proof of these supposed links."
The engineer, who has no criminal history, was employed by a firm subcontracted by French energy company EDF and worked throughout 2012 and 2013 at the Nogent-sur-Seine nuclear power station near Paris. In March 2014, however, his access to the nuclear site was revoked without explanation after regional police conducted an investigation on the man, according to Radio France International.
In June, the access ban was successfully appealed, with the judge stating that he had serious doubts about the legality of the decision and noting that neither the regional police chief, nor the EDF has clarified the characteristics justifying the access ban, according to RFI.

My client worked freely in French nuclear power stations for three years, Guez Guez, who also works with Frances Anti-Islamophobia Collective, told news outlet France 24. The question now is what changed? Overnight, he became a suspect person and no one has any idea why. Thats what were trying to get to the bottom of.

France, home to the largest Muslim population in western Europe, has raised its own worries about "radicalized young people leaving the country to fight in Iraq and Syria, and who could pose a risk to domestic security on their return," per AFP. The country's interior minister, Manuel Valls, has called the situation a ticking time bomb."

According to officials, the worker had ties with a jihadist group and was in contact with an imam from the Salafi movement, who was recruiting young people to fight American soldiers in Iraq, as reported by AFP.

On Monday, it transpired that a court in Chalons-en-Champagne had upheld the ban. It said management could prevent those "undergoing a process of political and religious radicalization" from accessing nuclear sites.

France has recently introduced tougher jihadist laws amid growing concern that its citizens are fighting alongside Islamic militants in Syria and Iraq.
According to official estimates, more than 800,000 French nationals, including several dozen women, have left the country to join radical groups in Syria.
France, whose population numbers 68 million people, has the largest Muslim community (7.5 percent) in the EU. A recent poll showed that up to 15 percent of French people said they have a positive attitude towards the Islamic State, formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant [ISIS]. The share of Islamic State supporters is largest among Frances younger generation, the new poll says.

We had to submit a list of names of every person in our co. who was handling said products....from order takers down to the shippers.
They wanted to make sure there were no "Jewish" names on the list...
True story.

(11,014 posts)and the jihadi connection was not necessary for the ban.
AQ Khan, Pakistan's nuclear engineer worked for the dutch and stole the plans for vapor centrifuges without any connection to jihadi organizations.
