Jeb Bush's Team Signals Possible 2016 Presidential Run
Source: CBS News
As he mulls a presidential run in 2016, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's friends and associates are urging top Republican fundraisers and strategists to avoid throwing their lot in with another candidate until Bush makes a decision.
Bush's associates aren't actively contacting potential supporters, the Journal reports, but they are answering inquiries from fundraisers and strategists who have been courted by other candidates, urging them to keep their powder dry until the former governor decides on his next step. Sally Bradshaw, one of Bush's top advisers, denied there was any "organized effort to actively recruit support for a presidential campaign." "He is seriously considering the race and will make a decision sometime after November," she told the Journal.
Bush is a favorite of the GOP's establishment wing, but tea party conservatives and activists have greeted the talk of him running with skepticism. His embrace of comprehensive immigration reform and common core national education standards put him at odds with much of the GOP base. Bush's family is also a potential impediment to a presidential bid. He'd need to grapple with the complicated legacy of his brother, former President George W. Bush, whose approval ratings have recently climbed from their nadir at the end of his presidency.

(92,217 posts)like his brother did, and many will fall hook line and sinker like they did his brother. He will be extremely careful how he answers questions, and not give definite responses to questions involving abortion, gays, immigration, etc.
That is why the Democrats cannot be timid or in the gray zone, but have to be very direct and strong on the issues.
When Kerry ran he had great difficulty answer simple yes or no questions, same with Gore. They would have been good presidents, but their communication skills were terrible.
Clinton and Obama in general were able to communicate very effectively. Hillary, has a tendency not to be particularly direct, and that had better change if she is the nominee.
Warren and Sanders mean what they say and say what they mean, and that is exactly what the Democratic nominee whoever it is has to do

(14,565 posts)ASSUMING Hillary wins the primary ...
Having Jeb in the race functionally negates what the primary R frame against Hillary would be - having a ruling class tripe (not saying this is not an issue, but they would LOVE it if worked out for them).
Put these two on the ballot, everything should break party lines, but Hillary will likely win out with a strong vote from women.
I am lukewarm on Hill, don't love her, don't hate her.
But, she would be LIGHT YEARS better than any R, needless to say.

It doesn't really matter how smart you are, or your history as long as you aren't gay to be a front runner for the GOP. They'll reinvent Jeb and that turd will be smelling good to the GOP buy 2016.

(3,431 posts)lets the other clowns fight it out for a while, and then at last will be greeted as the savior of the party.
I saw this coming for a long time. No matter what the Teabaggers hoped for last time, the final choice came from Wall Street and the Washington party. So it will be again. Teddy Cruz could already spend his time reading more Dr. Seuss stories.

(14,565 posts)As you noted, I think you still see at least a half dozen ambitious wing nuts throw there hats into the ring (the clown show) will dilute the tea party vote, leaving the "moderate" (in tone) like McCain or Romney to win out.

(10,340 posts)They absolutely despise Jeb Bush, along with many of the so-called front-runners. I remember a lot of them being upset that Romney got the nomination in '12.
This could be quite a nice little bloodbath coming up. I would love nothing more than for them to tear each other to shreds.

(17,656 posts)That Jeb Bush is not Presidential material.
Only 2 years away from the next presidential election, and all Jeb can say is, "I haven't decided to run yet or not".
