Rowland Guilty Of Violating Federal Campaign Laws

Source: Hartford Courant

NEW HAVEN - Former Connecticut governor John R. Rowland, a political rising star who crashed a decade ago in a corruption scandal, fell again Friday when a jury in federal court found him guilty in a low rent scheme to collect secret pay checks from rich Republican congressional candidates.

After deliberating about 7 hours over 2 days, the jury convicted the 57-old, three-term governor of conspiracy, two counts of falsifying records in order to obstruct an investigation, two counts of causing false reports to be filed with the Federal Election Commission and two counts of exceeding campaign contribution limits.

After spending much of his life on billion dollar, government spending deals – he was first elected a state representative at age 23, and has served as a member of Congress, in addition to Governor – Rowland likely will return to prison for hiding $35,000 in consulting fees from long-shot, 2012 candidate Lisa Wilson-Foley.

Rowland was accused of conspiring to violate and obstruct federal campaign reporting laws by concealing his role as a paid consultant in one congressional campaign and trying to obtain a secret, paid position advising another.

I LOVE the "low rent scheme" comment!

Another one bites the dust.

....his father and grandfather were politically connected in Waterbury (I think his father wound up being a judge, with a courthouse named after him) He grew up thinking his shit didn't stink and he could get away with anything. He's an arrogant SOB.

Just before he was elected governor he beat his first wife, but the police records were sealed (or disappeared!) and no one knows what happened that night.

This is his second felony conviction - he's not going to be going to a summer camp to play ping pong this time. He's going to be spending hard time, and a lot of it.

you remember him, they guy who snorted coke at his inauguration party and went on to rape the daughter he had with one of his crack whores.

While investigating municipal corruption, the FBI discovered phone records and pictures of Giordano with a prostitute, as well as with her 10-year-old niece and her eight-year-old daughter. He was arrested on July 26, 2001, and, in March 2003, was convicted of 14 counts of using an interstate device, his cell phone, to arrange sexual contact with children. He was also convicted of violating the girls' civil rights. He was sentenced to 37 years in prison. In July 2007 his motion to reduce this sentence was denied by a federal judge. In 2006, Giordano sued the city for back pay resulting from sick days and vacation time.

Giordano is currently serving his 37-year sentence at the United States Penitentiary, Tucson, a high security federal prison in Arizona, and is scheduled for release in 2033.

Line in the above article says "57-old."

That mean I'm getting old, since in December I'll be 55?

Or is yet another sloppy stupid reporter/editor?
