Another American who contracted the Ebola virus in Liberia will be brought to the biocontainment unit at the Nebraska Medical Center for treatment.
Ashoka Mukpo, a 33-year-old freelance cameraman working for NBC News, will be flown from Monrovia, Liberia, to Nebraska and should arrive early next week, possibly Monday, according to Med Center officials.
At a press conference later Friday afternoon, Med Center officials said they learned Thursday afternoon that the unit would be treating another patient with Ebola patient.

(40,416 posts)He is apparently dedicated to journalism in that area of Africa and has worked there for some years. He was hired as a contractor by NBC last week, which means that he likely contracted Ebola before he was hired.
No matter. NBC is flying him here for treatment. Good for them.
I wish him, and his NBC coworkers, my best.

(39,215 posts)technically they are correct but there are a lot more suspected cases and I was upset that they did not acknowledge that. They also did not talk about those like this man that we have brought over here because they are US citizens. I am afraid that this news conference did not do what it was supposed to - calm people down.

(51,666 posts)I still get credited for the most recent domestic animal rabies case in Los Angeles, because the puppy imported from Thailand that had rabies several years ago, while it saw vets in LA County, was not diagnosed until it got to SB Co (a vet in Ventura Co missed it also). So it counts as a Santa Barbara Co case.
That's the way they do these. It's diagnosis, not presence, that scores the point.
