Ted Cruz Says Net Neutrality Is 'Obamacare For The Internet'
Source: Business Insider
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) came out swinging after President Barack Obama wholeheartedly endorsed new internet regulations Monday morning.
Cruz, who is mulling a run for president in 2016, compared the entire concept of "net neutrality" which posits that internet companies should not be allowed to speed or slow down their services for certain users to Obama's much-maligned healthcare reform.
'"Net Neutrality' is Obamacare for the Internet; the Internet should not operate at the speed of government," Cruz wrote on Twitter.
Cruz's spokeswoman, Amanda Carpenter, added that net neutrality would place the government "in charge of determining pricing, terms of service, and what products can be delivered. Sound like Obamacare much?"

(36,649 posts)the Republicans counted on an uninformed & misinformed public to vote against their own best interest.
And judging by the flood of anti-Democrat posters showing up here lately, it won't be the last.

Not even close.
When Democrats lose, people like Ted Cruz win.

(4,879 posts)People like Ted Cruz win because Texas is a corrupt state. I have been here quite a long time. I know how this shit works.
Texas has been the example for all the corruption that has followed.
Get a fucking clue.

Karl Rove perfected his election fraud here. Where was the Justice Department then? Oh wait.
Where is the Justice Department now? Oh wait.
The Democratic Party threw Texas to the the dogs.
The nation will reap what it sowed.

(36,649 posts)And how would abandoning the Democratic Party help the situation?
To say that the corruption in Texas & the money that goes with it is not a new phenomenon is a laughable understatement. You can pretend that it's all Obama's fault, but it's really something that's been going on for over a century.

(60,010 posts)AT&T said exactly the same thing....that net neutrality is pro-gov. and therefore evil.
Somehow...someway.
So the meme, I see, is alive and well and being babbled about.

(4,879 posts)I didn't vote for Ted Cruz. I find him to be less than human.
My vote, and millions like me, don't seem to matter in this most corrupt state.
We're all depending on the rest of the nation to keep him from the WH.
We are begging. Help us!

(4,305 posts)Actually, he is right about the aspect shared by net neutrality and the Affordable Care Act. They do both work against the consolidation of power and wealth in the hands of Ted Cruz's overlords, the wealthy sociopaths.

(29,047 posts)The Democrats will probably either ignore it, which is a bad idea, say "no it's not," making Obamacare seem worse than it is, which is a bad idea, or they will give a watered-down defense of net neutrality, which would be meaningless. President Obama might make a decent speech about it, but the Democrats are usually terrible at marketing, and the Republicans use that weakness over and over again.

(4,015 posts)Seriously this is an absolutely brilliant move by the Tea Party wing of the GOP. They are clearly carrying the water for the corporatist wing of the party (that would be the entire party right?). They have crafted a winnable messaging meme imo.
The GOP hates anything that the Cable Cos and Telcos hate (Net Neutrality), but have not found a way to attack it especially with a name like Net Neutrality.
This line of attack obscures their real motives and let's them stand on their principled positions of keeping Government out of our lives, etc. This is a very smart and might be a winning strategy.
The biggest problem they face is they are up against EVERYONE except the biggest whores in the GOP and the biggest idiots, which is why Ted Cruz is carrying this flag.
