DES MOINES | Iowa’s largest public employee union on Monday called for four 2 percent raises over the next two fiscal years in its initial contract proposal to the governor’s administration.

Representatives of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Iowa Council 61 gave their initial two-year contract proposal to representatives of Gov. Terry Branstad’s administration Monday at AFSCME headquarters.

The proposal includes 2 percent raises for more than 18,000 state employees on July 1, 2015, Jan. 1 and July 1, 2016, and Jan. 1, 2017.

AFSCME President Danny Homan said he did not have a fiscal impact of the proposal.
