Pilot union sends contract counter-proposal to American Airlines management

The Allied Pilots Association board of directors sent a counter-proposal Friday to American Airlines management as the union and airline face a Saturday deadline to come up with a tentative agreement.
In concert with the APA Negotiating Committee, Scope Committee and other subject-matter experts, the board has developed a comprehensive counter-proposal addressing the deficiencies in managements initial economic proposals, the union told members in a hotline. The Negotiating Committee is presenting APAs counter-proposal to management today.
The response follows APA president Keith Wilsons message Wednesday calling the AA proposal seriously lacking, and a union hotline Thursday that criticized the airlines proposal on pay in comparison to what Delta Air Lines pays its pilots.
We will not accept an inadequate compensation proposal. Even if management is philosophically opposed to the industry standard of profit-sharing, we must ensure that the value provided to other pilots in the form of profit-sharing is also reflected in our pilots total compensation, the Thursday message said.

(18,791 posts)with this as well as the Flight Attendants rejecting a contract...they also were loving some commentary about profit sharing being "dead" at AA.
Delta management wants to keep out unions...any "turmoil" is always published to employees.

Other than those, the rest of the company is non-union. The company spent millions and millions with an anti-union company, that took care of the propaganda, mails, posters, etc. as well as the coaching of supervisors. Each time there has been a vote, a different "tact" has been used. One of the most memorable was the "Just Rip One" campaign...for the Flight Attendants, they were told to rip up their ballot and then proudly wear it in a plastic sleeve with their ID...when it came time to turn back. A vote for Ramp workers (99% masculine male types), the RIP a Big One, became a fart joke...they loved it...down went the vote.
There must be some panic coming on as the IAM is trying to organize the FA's, again (previous votes for AFA)...the company is pushing that the AA FA's are going to be stuck with mediation and that profit sharing is the only way to go.
Fuck profit sharing...you work hard and they (management and pilots) pocket the big bucks.
