Cosby’s Lawyer Rips Media ‘Feeding Frenzy’; Cosby Show Producers Weigh In
Source: Mediaite
Bill Cosbys attorney put out a fierce statement today to the press after three additional woman came out publicly saying the comedy icon sexually assaulted them. Martin Singer made it known in the statement that hes getting a bit peeved with the media-driven feeding frenzy.
Earlier today, Mediaite reported on claims by two more womenone of them the wife of actor Lou Ferrignothat Cosby sexually assaulted them. In addition, another woman named Linda Joy Traitz claimed Cosby was sexually aggressive with her and offered her pills from a briefcase full of drugs. Singer says, Ms. Traitz is the latest example of people coming out of the woodwork with unsubstantiated or fabricated stories about my client.
He goes on to cite Traitzs long criminal history, which was documented by TMZ earlier today. Traitz has been arrested and charged for multiple crimes including battery, theft, and drug-related offenses.
Carla Ferrigno said that Cosby once forcefully tried to kiss her, and that was another point of contention for Singer:

(11,522 posts)There are so many women coming forward who have no motivation other than bringing the truth out that it's become pretty obvious that there's something to this. As someone who used to be a huge Cosby fan I'm sickened. He was a great talent but with all of this coming to light I'll say he's no longer deserving of anything other than a jail cell and 3 meals per day.

(28,968 posts)The amount of subtle details that fit like a glove with how people in power manipulate those with no power is quite convincing to me. I would never put him in jail on the evidence but it's still pretty convincing testimony.

(13,390 posts)I'm really sad for his co-actors who will have to deal with questions. I'm not sure how it works, but the thought that they might not continue to benefit financially because no one wants to see him anymore really makes me sad for them. I know I can't stand to even remember that show anymore.
The name Pete Rose came to mind when I started hearing about this.

What an idiot. This makes her story more believable victims of sexual assault often act out sometimes criminally, many end up self medicating with drugs legal or otherwise.

(8,267 posts)This stirs up painful memories of my abuser, who started his perverse sexual assaults when my sisters and I were little girls. He was so well regarded by our family that his nickname was "Ace," and--after the disclosure about his sexual abuse of three children--friends and family made remarks like, "I can't believe Horace would do such a thing!"
It took ten years for one of us to disclose. It is still causing hard feelings and resentment among our family and friends. The abuser's children (my nieces and nephew) are the primary reasons we still have to tolerate his "presence" and his bizarre claims that I (but not my baby sisters?!) seduced him.
I can fully understand why these women didn't disclose for many years what this iconic and beloved actor did to them.

(7,570 posts)Of course, they naturally choose people and opportunities that will expose them to the least risk. I don't see someone like Cosby trying that shit with Faye Dunaway or Raquel Welch.
We should also keep in mind that a lot of these alleged incidents took place decades ago. Women who were known to have ANY sex outside of wedlock were sluts, rape victims usually did something to deserve it, and people were much less likely to talk about these things openly. Hell, I remember back in the 70s when one of the TV networks put out a movie about a woman who'd been raped. You'd have thought the world was coming unglued.
