Police officer shot near Ferguson, Missouri

Source: Reuters

A policeman was shot and wounded on Monday evening in University City, a St. Louis suburb near Ferguson, Missouri, though it was unclear if the shooting was related to street protests over the grand jury's decision in the Michael Brown case, police said.

The officer was shot in the arm, and he is expected to recover, but the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately available, and a search for the suspect was under way, the St. Louis County Police Department said in a message on Twitter.

Just to be clear: no connection with the street protests is alleged at this point, but it can't make things less tense...

Here's a local TV station's coverage:

wanted riots, burnings everywhere, blood running in the streets, both alleged 'rioters' and bonified 'authorities. They didn't get their ratings boosters, although they will blow up the smallest incident to seem like a national race war and insurrection. The media in this country? I spit on it's 'objectivity'.

If protesters are shown to be connected in any way, the situation could get real ugly, real fast.

If you want to create solidarity, anger and a zero tolerance attitude among police across the nation, both federal and state, with a great deal of popular support, the quickest way to do so is shoot a cop.

I hope the wound is not serious, the officer recovers, and we do not hear about it again.

read that the 'chief' said IT WAS NOT RELATED. Your legal training is not teaching anything to anyone that thinks, it's just an ego driven "teach the black children" type mentality. Oh well, with your ego no retort does anything to dampen your ardor for your 'intelligence'. I'm always impressed. not.

U City is also not one of the "black suburbs" that African Americans were pushed into in North County.

There will be some wanting to use this non-related incident as an example of the "violent thugs" protesting for their rights.
