Lee Rigby report: MI5 was just hours away from putting killer under surveillance (UK)

Source: Telegraph UK

Intelligence and Security Committee Report reveals that Theresa May, the Home Secretary, authorised surveillance of Michael Adebowale on day of murder

Theresa May was handed an application for surveillance of one of Lee Rigby's killers on the day of the murder

MI5 was just hours away from putting Michael Adebowale under surveillance when he and Michael Adebolajo murdered Lee Rigby, it has emerged.

An application for permission to use “intrusive” surveillance on Adebowale was sent to the Home Office on May 21 last year, the day before the murder.

By the time it was brought to the attention of Theresa May, the Home Secretary, Drummer Rigby was already dead. Mrs May signed the application, giving MI5 permission to conduct “urgent” surveillance on associates of Adebowale, but it was too late to save the 25-year-old Fusilier.

The ISC’s report into the intelligence held by the security services said that such applications had a deadline of seven working days between the time an application is received by MI5’s legal department and the time it is sent to the Home Secretary, but in this case it took 15 days.

they had immediate relief from their blood-thirst.

The old adage is that converted people are far more militant because they have a bigger fire in the belly to prove to themselves and others that they have truly embraced the new life. If someone converts to a peaceful religion like Buddhism, it is generally not a problem but when one converts to a violent religion, immediate surveillance of all activities is warranted.

That poster read the word "Islam" and went into his usual frothing at the mouth response.

There is a similar reaction to "Putin", "guns" and "ebola" from other posters.

Pavlov would have had a field day in DU recently ...
