Widespread power outage hits Detroit

Source: BBC

Dozens of municipal buildings, including fire departments and schools, in the US city of Detroit have lost power on Tuesday.

Among the buildings affected are the Joe Louis sports arena and the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice courthouse.

A cause for the power outage has yet to be determined.

This is the third such major outage in like 2 1/2 years caused by failure in a main line.

Since being appointed to a local zoning board a couple years ago, I have become keenly aware of the importance of infrastructure. In the state that invented a lot of modern infrastructure such as divided highways, traffic lights, etc., we have gone from leader to toilet dwellers. I was embarrassed when relatives from Mass. came to visit because the state of our raods, bridges, etc. is just horrible

When you give the right full control of state government for nearly two decades, this is the result.
