Romney to woo key conservative group at NRA event

Source: AP

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will tell National Rifle Association members that President Barack Obama is not protecting gun owners' rights, even though the administration has said little about firearms and has deeply disappointed gun-control advocates.

In remarks prepared for the association's annual convention Friday, Romney says "we need a president who will enforce current laws, not create new ones that only serve to burden lawful gun owners. President Obama has not; I will."

The excerpted remarks, released by Romney's campaign, offer no details about Obama's record on firearms.

Romney's speech comes as the former Massachusetts governor is trying to woo conservative groups in a bid to consolidate his base before the fall campaign. His relationship with gun owner groups is an uneasy one. Running for the Senate in 1994, Romney said: "I don't line up with the NRA." He later became a lifetime NRA member.

Yep. The NRA is a 'key conservative group.' It's just as much a wing of the GOP as Fox News is.

And he took a call from "his wife" in the middle of his speech?

My guess is he lost the NRA and any chance of the nomination from that moment on.

The speech is dull. Very dull. Applause is sparse as well it should be and sounds canned. Romney reminds me of Richard Nixon more and more with each passing day. Transparency will completely disappear with Romney. Misinformation has become the hallmark of every Romney speech and this one was no exception. There is simply nothing to like about Romney as a person.

"...is trying to woo conservative groups..."....with his lifeless campaign and boring personality....good luck willard!

....allow me to make a suggestion: fellatio...."I don't line up with the NRA."....well, now you must and no better place to start than on your rich conservative knees with all the small dicks at the NRA....giving good head will cause most god-pukes and baggers to see things your way....

....don't worry about size, focus on votes....I believe my small dick is much larger than it is when I'm holding a 44 Magnum....
