Keystone fight isn’t over yet, landowners’ lawyer says

Source: Watchdog.org

By Deena Winter

LINCOLN, Neb. — Attorneys for Bold Nebraska are threatening legal action if TransCanada doesn’t restart the pipeline siting process in Nebraska in the wake of Friday’s state Supreme Court decision on the law used to approve the route through Nebraska.

And they said Nebraska lawmakers should pass laws strengthen landowner rights when an oil pipeline is built on their property.

TransCanada is a Canadian company that has been working for six years to get state and federal permits to build the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the Gulf Coast refineries. The company has run into a groundswell of opposition in Nebraska, where 16 percent of landowners have refused to sign easements that would allow the pipeline to be built on their land.

The attorneys who represented landowners who challenged the Nebraska pipeline siting law say if TransCanada doesn’t apply for a permit through the Nebraska Public Service Commission, they’re ready for Round Two.

FULL story at link.

President Obama is going to veto it anyway, but the state issue gives him good cover.

Four votes (Dem defectors) is getting too close for comfort.
Have to see what Big Ed has to say on today's show as to this latest on KXL.
HE generally brings up Keystone every chance he can.
