Muslim Mayor of Rotterdam: Islamist extremists who don't like the West can 'f*** off'

Source: London Evening Standard

The Muslim Mayor of one of the Netherlands' biggest cities has said Islamic extremists who do not accept Western society should "just f*** off".

Moroccan-born Ahmed Aboutaleb launched the scathing attack on live television in the wake of the Paris terror attacks.

The Labour Mayor of Rotterdam, who arrived in the Netherlands aged 15, told the current affairs show Nieuwsuur: "It’s incomprehensible that you turn against freedom like that, but if you don’t like this freedom, for heaven’s sake, get your suitcase, and leave.

"There might be a place where you belong, and be honest with yourself about that, don’t kill innocent journalists."

"Abu Talib" was the Uncle of Muhamad, who raised him after his parents died. That point is likely not lost amongst the 'taleb' or 'talib' (students, knowledge-seekers) who profess such a grand concern over who does what to whom and who is being "insulted" here and there these days.

Came to the Americas via there. Part of original family from the UK settled down and finished their lives there. The rest stayed here and never looked back for the most part.

I can't imagine speaking that language...

The mayor has the right idea as many Muslims fled the ME to escape the radicals who won't be satisfied, until all obey their crazy notions. IMO, they force them on people to seize land and wealth while keeping them on the run.

It's interesting to see voices in Europe speak to what is good about their social philosophy, not go on attack, just say it.

American extremists and those not considered extreme but on the right, take the opposite approach. They repeat slogans on what they 'stand for' that would be laughable, if they weren't so hateful. They have no root for their ravings.

Then Taliban means students. Yet they seem rather opposed to education or enlightenment, especially for women. Maybe they are copying our Republicans and their penchant for naming things the opposite of what they are.

unless they have some deluded idea that they will succeed in turning western nations into the same repressive fundamentalist extremist rat holes from which they or their families originally come. If they don't want to make an honest effort to assimilate but want to spend the entire day among their own fundamentalist extremist friends complaining about the fact the west is not a woman-hating, freedom-hating, and science-hating medieval wonderland from which they originally come, talking and blogging about jihad, then give them half a boat ticket home and a flotation cushion.

If I were to emigrate to Saudi Arabia, or Russia, or Australia, or anywhere, I would go prepared to try to fit in at least a bit to my new country and adopt some of their customs, dress, etc. Expecting the same from immigrants here, within reason, is just part of the social order.

I don't understand why Pakistani fundamentalists move to say, London, and denigrate how sinful their new country is. Guess there's a lot of fundamentalism I just don't understand.

It might involve cultures and unsavory customs from some countries that happen to be where fundamentalist Islam predominates. Some behaviors may find nothing to justify them in the Koran.
