The Atlantic: The Unbearable Emptiness of a New York Times Op-Ed
http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2014/09/the-empty-critiques-of-obamas-mideast-policy/379433/?google_editors_picks=true-snip-
I have my concerns about President Obamas foreign policy. But nothing eases them like listening to his Republican critics. Theres an onion-like quality to the arguments GOP politicians often deploy against Obamas policies in the Middle East. Peel away the layers of grave-sounding but vacuous rhetoric, and youre left with almost nothing intellectually nourishing at all.

(10,252 posts)I like having a Prez, who isn't a knee-jerk reactionary. I like having a Prez, who is patient and takes the time to gather data, listen to different perspectives, talk to experts. I like a Prez, who doesn't feel the need to DO SOMETHING now, to not look weak in the polls.
I think such a Prez, one who is patient and thoughtful, has a better chance of making good decisions that result in good outcomes.

"Take Senators John McCain and Lindsey Grahams op-ed on Saturday in The New York Times. It starts with a lie: that Obama said we dont have a strategy yet to deal with ISIS. In fact, Obama was speaking solely about ISIS in Syria. (Do you need Congresss approval to go into Syria? asked a reporter last Thursday. We dont have a strategy yet.
We need to make sure that weve got clear plans, that were developing them. At that point, I will consult with Congress, Obama replied.)"
