Why the letter to Iran won’t end well for Republicans - By Elizabeth Cobbs Hoffman

What happens when senators and congressmen go around a controversial president to communicate directly with the enemy? They undermine the stability of their own party — and the integrity of the nation.

That’s what happened to the Federalists, the glorious political party of George Washington, John Adams and Alexander Hamilton. Could the same thing happen to today’s Republican Party?

On Monday, 47 Republican senators wrote Iran’s leaders to inform them that the president of the United States is not to be trusted. Anything President Barack Obama promises, they explained, can be undone the moment he is out and their candidate is in.
ah-gw

Organized by freshman Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), the Republican Party’s broadside is not a precise parallel to Federalist sedition during the War of 1812. But it’s close.

/snip/

But the junior senator from Arkansas ought to beware. The American people have never cottoned to treason — or the implication of it.

They got away with a fake war, torture and theft of the Treasury, after all. And war criminals protected by the media walk among us.

Look at how they protect the GOP on this act of sedition...ignoring it happens and hoping it goes away.

The Media does not love America.

It's a country that continues to allow them to collect and consolidate more and more wealth and income (while denying it to so many others that make this wealth and income possible). That's a great country for the elite (of which The Media are certainly part) if the elite doesn't give a rat's ass about everyone else.

The Media doesn't like the vision of America that many of us around here have for an America where everyone enjoys the economic freedom and stability to live their entire lives with a certain level of dignity.

I see this everything they've done as a WIN this year since they control media and are firing at the federal government one thing after another, faster and faster, like a AR-15. It's about perception, not the law, period.

They play the minds of people every day. The American people have the attention span of a gnat and don't even realize the delicate balance that is being destroyed that makes government effective to deal with this menace.

I'm also growing weary of the screams for them being arrested here. That would go to a court full of GOP appointees or the SC, get every Teapublican out to vote, and the Democrats still won't vote in 2016. No matter who is running.

Arrests would start a civil war with very well armed people with a long list of enemies they are training to kill. The government knows how dangerous they are and the keyboard warriors can't translate their words into action against these goons roaming the nation.

We had our chance in 2010 and 2014 to stop the tide of troglodytes but wanted American Idol to give us a show to vote for. My faith in the electorate is lower than it's ever been. I refuse to listen to those who claim an exciting candidate is needed.

Or a tough guy, blah, blah. No respect for intellect and thinking long term. The tough guy is who the GOP puts up for office. And are not fit to lead the country.

The author of the article is living in the past, a reality that was created by having a Democratic majority. She thinks we're all playing by the Queensbury rules or Robert's rule of orders.

This is all a publicity stunt and combined with Email Gate after whatever Gate, the people are just howling what they heard on the media. Meanwhile, the people charged to protect our ass are being dissed and no one thinks of a higher cause than their Ego.

Not really addresssing this to you, JAG. But really, all this hubbub is a Meh.

Republicans are the Party of Treason. They have everything to lose and are now at the mercy of Iran. All Iran has to do is make a deal acceptable to the International Community. By default Israel comes out as a warmonger with their treasonous lap dog American Republicans. Now what could go wrong? Israel gets rid of the current war party changes direction. Another World War is just not that attractive.

This is what happens through lack of leadership an entire party embraces ignorance follows a freshman Senator and goes on literally a "Children's Crusade".

The Republicans have nothing to worry about.
By the next election this won't even be a footnote.

If Democrats did it there would be a congressional committee investigating it for years.
It Republicans did it, it never happened.

The only weapon we have against them is to prosecute, and the white house has decided not to. So this will just go into the long line of insults, high crimes, misdemeanors and outrages that no one does anything about.

but the usually sabotage talks secretly rather than publicly, as they did with Vietnam and Iran (under during the Carter Administration). Of course, they now openly sell out the interests of the American people, whereas they used to conceal this under various guises, so I guess this just reflects changing times.
