A complete takedown of the lies spread by the Baltimore PD and Washington Post on Freddie Gray

So many egregious and disturbing lies are being told about Freddie Gray.

One conservative reporter is claiming that Gray severed his spine jumping from a three-story window eluding police and then running full force into a wall. Except even the Baltimore police have claimed they simply spotted him on the street.

Other conservatives literally doctored a lead paint exposure settlement that Gray and his sister received and claimed that it was for a severe spinal injury he received in a car accident.

Perhaps no lie being told, though, is more disturbing than the one the Baltimore police are leaking to/through the Washington Post—that Gray injured himself in the van. It is irresponsible for the Washington Post to advance this lie, and it's corrupt for the Baltimore police to be leaking it to advance a false narrative to protect them.

We will investigate and disprove these lies below.

suspended WITHOUT pay - or better yet FIRED.
Then they should be charged and forced to go before
a grand jury to tell us what happened under oath.

Not that that will provide the truth either. Cops
stand by each other - lies and all.

2. Baltimore Police Reveal New Information About Freddie Gray's Arrest
Thu Apr 30, 2015, 03:10 PM
Apr 2015

Baltimore police revealed Thursday morning in a news conference that a transport van carrying Freddie Gray, the 25-year-old black man who suffered a severe spinal injury in police custody, made one more stop than was previously known.

The city has been riled by protests and pockets of violence since Gray succumbed to his injures a week after his April 12 arrest. Police have so far been unable to explain how Gray sustained the spinal injury, although they've indicated that they believe it happened while Gray was inside the van en route to the Western District police station.

Deputy Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said police found out about the new stop from video footage captured on a privately owned surveillance camera. According to the timeline Davis laid out, the new stop is the second of four stops the van made on April 12.

The van first pulled over to complete paperwork after the driver believed Gray began acting "irate." Then the van made a second, previously unknown stop (Davis did not elaborate on what occurred during this new stop). At a third stop, an officer had "some communication" with Gray, which was under investigation. The van then picked up another arrestee at a fourth stop before completing its trip to the Western District police station, where a medic was called to respond to Gray.

Prisoner Was Wrong: Freddie Gray Didn’t Kill Himself
Michael Daly

Someone leaked a police document to the Washington Post claiming Gray was trying to hurt himself inside a police van—minutes after he asked for medical assistance.

Before the second prisoner was even in the police van, Freddie Gray asked the police for medical assistance.

So you have to wonder why on earth a man who had just asked for help would then try to hurt himself—as the second prisoner supposedly concluded after he was picked up at the next stop a few minutes later.

The opinion of the second prisoner is reportedly contained in a search-warrant application prepared by a police investigator and now leaked to The Washington Post.

Somebody leaked the sealed document for a reason, just as the police were preparing to turn over the results of their investigation to the Baltimore state’s attorney. There is nothing to stop the Baltimore Police Department from also publicly disclosing its major findings, as it largely did after its initial investigation soon after Gray’s death. The only significant detail the BPD added on Thursday while announcing its probe was complete was that private security video indicated the van had made an additional, previously unreported stop.

But what the police have already disclosed is enough to suggest why the second prisoner might have believed Gray was trying to hurt himself—and why he was almost certainly mistaken. After the stop where he asked for medical assistance and medical assistance was denied to him, Gray seems to have resumed signaling his need for help by the only means available—by banging on the inside of the van.

4. Why You Should Be Skeptical About the New Police Narrative on Freddie Gray's Death
Thu Apr 30, 2015, 03:19 PM
Apr 2015

On a relatively quiet night in Baltimore, the Washington Post dropped a bombshell. According to a sealed court document, a witness alleged that Freddie Gray—whose April death has triggered days of protests in the city—may have been deliberately attempting to injure himself while in police custody:

A prisoner sharing a police transport van with Freddie Gray told investigators that he could hear Gray "banging against the walls" of the vehicle and believed that he "was intentionally trying to injure himself," according to a police document obtained by The Washington Post.

The prisoner, who is currently in jail, was separated from Gray by a metal partition and could not see him. His statement is contained in an application for a search warrant, which is sealed by the court. The Post was given the document under the condition that the prisoner not be named because the person who provided it feared for the inmate's safety.

It's easy to see how a sealed document like that, drafted by a police investigator, might have leaked to the press in spite of the court order, and in spite of the police department's general aura of secrecy. If Gray's injuries were self-inflicted, the police department is off the hook.

But as WBAL's Jayne Miller noted, the new exculpatory allegation appears to be at odds with the police department's earlier narrative, as well as the timeline of events:

This situation has gone from bad to worse. Nobody could possibly believe that he injured himself in such a manner. Such a thing is not even possible. Not to mention the fact that a new stop, previously not even known about, has now been disclosed. This whole thing is just too much. Which is why we see so many people taking to the streets in protest.

prisoner riding in the Baltimore police van that carried critically injured Freddie Gray denies reports that he believed Gray intentionally hurt himself.

Donta Allen, speaking to TV station WBAL, contradicted a police document leaked to The Washington Post Wednesday that said he had heard Gray "banging against the walls" of the van and believed he "was intentionally trying to injure himself."

9. Cop Who Arrested Freddie Gray Had Guns Confiscated Over Mental Health
Fri May 1, 2015, 12:40 AM
May 2015

BALTIMORE (AP) — The highest-ranking Baltimore police officer in the arrest that led to Freddie Gray's death was hospitalized in April 2012 over mental health concerns for an unknown duration and had his guns confiscated by local sheriff's deputies, according to records from the sheriff's office and court obtained by The Associated Press.

Lt. Brian Rice, who initially pursued Gray on a Baltimore street when Gray fled after Rice made eye contact April 12, declared three years ago that he "could not continue to go on like this" and threatened to commit an act that was censored in the public version of a report obtained by the AP from the Carroll County, Maryland, Sheriff's Office. Rice lived in the county, about 35 miles northwest of Baltimore. At the time, deputies were responding to a request to check on his welfare by a fellow Baltimore police officer who is the mother of Rice's son.

Deputies reported that Rice appeared "normal and soft spoken" and said he had been seeking "sympathy and attention." But citing "credible information," the deputies confiscated both his official and personal guns, called his commanding officer and transported Rice to the Carroll Hospital Center. The weapons included his .40-caliber police pistol, a 9 mm handgun, an AK-47-style rifle, a .22-caliber rifle and two shotguns.
