Confederate flag clearly a symbol of hatred (LTTE)

10:08 a.m. EDT July 24, 2015

... I was a U.S. Marine in Vietnam and extended my tour for an additional six months. Whether I was at Danang, Chu Lai or a few outposts around those bases, I never noticed a Confederate flag flying. An individual might have a symbol, but they were few and far between.

For one thing, the Marine Corps would not allow any flag other than the Stars and Stripes flying. Also, the Confederate flag would have sowed discord with the black Marines. Whether it was the Marine Corps or U.S. Army, black men were overrepresented in combat units in Vietnam compared to the percentage of black people in America ... All anyone has to do is look at the list of Medal of Honor recipients in Vietnam to determine the valor of these men.

Any flag or symbol that represents hatred should not be on government property. Individuals can do what they want.
