Editorial Reviews

Narrated by Academy Award-winner Mercedes Ruehl, DOCTORS OF THE DARK SIDE is the first feature-length documentary about how health care professionals actively implemented and covered up the tortures in Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo and the CIA Black Sites. Based on four years of research by Producer/Director Martha Davis, written by Oscar winning Mark Jonathan Harris, and filmed entirely in HD by Emmy winning DP Lisa Rinzler, the riveting film shows how the torture of detainees could not continue without the assistance of these American doctors. The little-known story is told by military, legal and medical experts and portrayed through staged demonstrations of the doctors' role in the Enhanced Interrogation Techniques (EITs) as spelled out in declassified government documents.

No More Torture: World’s Largest Group of Psychologists Bans Role in National Security Interrogations

By a nearly unanimous vote, the American Psychological Association’s Council of Representatives voted Friday to adopt a new policy barring psychologists from participating in national security interrogations. The resolution also puts the APA on the side of international law by barring psychologists from working at Guantánamo, CIA black sites and other settings deemed illegal under the Geneva Conventions or the U.N. Convention Against Torture, unless they are working directly for the persons being detained or for an independent third party working to protect human rights. The vote came at the APA’s first convention since the release of a report confirming the APA leadership actively colluded with the Pentagon and the CIA torture programs. The sole dissenter was retired Col. Larry James, former top Army intelligence psychologist at Guantánamo and Abu Ghraib. We play highlights from the vote, including APA President-elect Susan McDaniel, and speak with two of the leading dissident psychologists who have been pushing the APA to reverse its stance on interrogations for nearly a decade, Steven Reisner and Stephen Soldz, founding members of the Coalition for an Ethical Psychology. We also speak with the president-elect of the British Psychological Society, Peter Kinderman.

GUESTS:

Steven Reisner, founding member of the Coalition for an Ethical Psychology and psychological ethics adviser to Physicians for Human Rights. He’s the co-author of the report, "All the President’s Psychologists."

Stephen Soldz, professor at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis and co-founder of the Coalition for an Ethical Psychology.

Peter Kinderman, president-elect of the British Psychological Society.

You can equally use other terms instead of "PRISONER" such as client, patient, suspect, subject-and get away with literally murder right here in The United States of America behind that evil shield of "National Security", right?

I believe it's more like "life unworthy of life" as policy in a lot of America, which has been supported by both APA's elite.

We can't ask Sandra Bland, nor Tanisha Anderson, nor Kajieme Powell, nor Christopher Torres nor many others who are dead as a result of "responses" to them.

Then, to add that diabolical twist-some mental-health professionals will provide special therapy to the traumatized officers and their social network-when, in fact, some of these officers are murderers.

I'd love to hear from those DUers that disagree with my viewpoint.

Our DoJ should be renamed The Ministry of Truth because all this "We Don't Torture" or "Well, we tortured some folks..." bs is totally post-Bush NEWSPEAK that the Obama administration's DoJ never really did anything about except going after the whistle blowers that expected some movement towards JUSTICE.

The Ministry of Truth employs lots of therapists too, doesn't it?

What do we, the people expect from an outfit that is headquartered in a building named after John Edgar Hoover who actually got a lot of US killed/harmed because of our being on secret "lists" that have grown exponentially?

CIA Torture (Constantine Report on the Far Right)
http://www.constantinereport.com/topic/torture

Paradoxically, I've been a staffer with the keys to locked wards and a court committed client that refuses to be silent about a federally
protected network (for 46 years) involving a murderer, rapist, torturer and human trafficker that harmed loved ones. My late father-in-law was connected to The Agency.

Moreover, some of the best and brightest " national security assets" spent time on the campuses of the University of Wisconsin and gathered very interesting non-consensual human subjects for many domestic operations-all based on politicized "lists" that remain in effect forever.

That's why I post about these once "out there" topics and will continue to do so. There are real criminal conspiracies as well as disinfo/CT.

I'm a conspiracy realist. Add to this thread DU.

They are "scientific" torturers that have applied their "methods" on human beings whose names have been put on secretive "lists", sound familiar, people???

The unaccountability of the BUSH/CHENEY/RUMSFELD et.al. administration and the continuation of many of the "policies" initiated in the "war on terror" by the OBAMA administration is well known.

Yet what do we, the people, know about some of the originators of the BSCT's-Major John Leso, Gen. Kevin C. Kiley, Asst. SecDef for Health Matters William Winkenwerder Jr, Gen Sanchez, Gen. Fast, the American Psychological Association, etc.?

If you want to learn a bit more on this Day of Atonement about some of the crimes secretly committed in our name take a look at these links and then openly state your opinion if there is any excuse left for these scientific torturers outside of Divine Mercy-which many of their victims begged for.
