GOP Focus turning to Abortion 2016

http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/gop-focus-turning-abortion-2016-race-n408116

Abortion has again emerged as a major issue in the presidential race as Republican presidential contenders jockey for support from the party's conservative base.

On Tuesday, Ted Cruz released a new ad pledging the Texas senator would "prosecute and defund" Planned Parenthood, in the wake of a spate of recent videos released by an anti-Planned Parenthood group purporting to show a representative of the organization negotiating the sale of fetal body parts.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, meanwhile, has spent much of the past week elaborating on his opposition to exemptions from abortion bans under most circumstances.

the base but turn off voters in the general electorate. Their 'big tent' turned out to be a pop up. I'm genuinely confused at their cluelessness. Do they really operate in such a bubble that they believe the rest of the country has the same viewpoints they do? They're social stances on gay marriage, abortion, gun background checks, contraceptives and a host of other issues isn't just passe, it's antiquated. They've been left in the dust of a society that's becoming more and more progressive while conservatives are regressing to medievalism.

At least if Internet comments threads are any indication (and I'm aware that one has to be careful when using them as a guide to anything). I'm seeing a lot of comments from people who identify as conservatives along the lines of "I am not going to automatically vote Republican any more just because of abortion".

I know it won't happen quickly but it would be so great to get those mullah's out of the political process.

Every campaign ad, appearance, and mailing should include the word "radical" as many times as it will fit.
