A choice between a flag and a future

I have such fond memories of growing up in Danville ... I graduated and left Danville for school and big city adventures, but when I wanted some peace, I’d come home ... These days, it has become more and more unsettling to come back ... The stately old mansions along Main Street are peeling and crumbling ... In response to the city council’s decision that would move a Confederate battle flag flying over the Danville museum, the Virginia Flaggers have ridden into town to erect battle flags at prominent city locations. They may as well be billboards advertising the fact that Danville is in fatal decline ... I have my own prediction: The Danville Bypass will get plenty of traffic. Because who, traveling north or south, will want to detour for gas and a cup of coffee in a town that flies a flag that has been associated with the KKK and neo-Nazis? ...
